Create a map

There are 2 methods to create a map:
Method 1: The first method lets you create a map from an already uploaded dataset. When this dataset holds geometrical information, the mapbuilder can visualize this on a map.
Method 2: The second method is creating a map from scratch. A new dataset will be created and every feature you add to the map will automatically be added to this dataset including all the neccesary geometrical information.
Create a map from your data
When you have a dataset that contains a geometry, you can create a map from your dataset. To create a map, click on the ‘options’ of a dataset and select the ‘create map’ option from the drop-down menu. This will start the process of creating a map. The only thing that is left is to give it a name and the Mapbuilder will create a map from your data. After creating, you new map can be found in the ‘My Maps’ section on the left side of the screen.
In the ‘My Data’ section you can find out which maps are connected to each dataset. This can be found behind the dataset name.
The Mapbuilder also shows how many maps are connected to a certain dataset. In front of each dataset title is a small icon. This icon shows the number of maps associated with the dataset like the example below:
Create a map from scratch
It is also possible to create a clean map from scratch. This map gives you the freedom to start drawing points, lines or polygons (areas) on a map. To do this, navigate to the ‘My Maps’ area and click the ‘Create map +’ button.
When you select the ‘From scratch’ option, the Mapbuilder will create a new, empty table.
Now you can start adding features to the map. How to do this is covered in the Draw on Map section of this training.
