In this tutorial video we will cover the basics of working with the Spotzi Mapbuilder and explain to you how to create a map of your uploaded data. After this video you will exactly know how to create a map in the mapbuilder. In this video we will explain the following subjects:

  • We will show you how to turn your data into a mapped out data visualization. Please check out our video about Uploading Data first, before you continue with the steps from this video.
  • Creating a map from your database.
  • Creating a map by importing a new dataset.

Step-by-step explanation

There are 2 methods to create a new map. The first method is through the ‘My Data’ area. The second method is through the ‘My Maps’ area. In this video we will explain both methods.

Method 1: Via the My Data area

When we press the options button we get the ‘Create map’ option. Lets click on it. This leads us to the ‘Create map from dataset’ window. In this section, all you have to do is to give your map a name and click the ‘Create map’ button. Click ‘Open map’ to open your map.

Method 2: Via the My Maps area

This method combines the upload of a new dataset and the creation of a map in a single process. First we select the ‘Create map’ underneath the search bar. This will open the upload menu. Next we are going to create a dataset from a file. Creating a dataset from scratch and Geocoding your dataset will be covered in a different video.

The file that we are going to use contains a geometry, a country name, the number of houses, an area id and a name.

We can easily navigate to the file by click the file button right here, or by dropping the file onto the file button.

Lets give the map and the dataset a quick name and we are ready to start the import process and creation of the map.
