2-digit postal code Argentina

This dataset depicts the boundaries of all 2-digit postal code areas in Argentina. This Argentine postal code system is developed by the Argentine national postal service (Correo Argentino) to divide Argentina into different areas. With this system each Argentine region gets a unique code and locations can be found easily.

Postal codes in Argentina are known as códigos postales. The current postal code system in Argentina is called CPA. This is an abbrevation for Código Postal Argentino.


The 2-digit postal codes are part of the official 8-digit postal code that contain the following characters and features:

  • The first is a letter that represent the Argentine province. It is developed based on Argentine number plates, where each province is characterized by a single letter. A is for example Salta while N represents the Province of Misiones.
  • The middle four digits represent a specific locality or larger provincial area in Argentina. S2000 characterizes the Argentine city of Rosario and B1900 is the code of La Plata, the capital of the Buenos Aires province.
  • The last three letters represent a particular city-block.


The current postal code (código postal) range of Argentina (AR) is: A4 – Z9. The lowest 2-digit postal code (A4) starts in the provinco of Salta and the highest postal code (Z9) is located in the province of Santa Cruz.
