This Costa Rican postal code system is developed by the Costa Rican national postal service (Correos de Costa Rica) to divide Costa Rica in different areas. With this system each Costa Rican region gets a unique code and locations can be found easily.
Postal codes in Costa Rican are known as código postal. The current postal code system in Costa Rica is also used by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censos (INEC) to collect census data about the Costa Rican population in the most efficient way.
