Advanced Map Customization
7 MIN INTERMEDIATE EDIT STYLING, CUSTOM PATTERNS, CUSTOM MAP MARKER
Custom map markers
Customize your maps fully to your own personal preferences by adding some custom map markers. With Spotzi there are two methods to add map markers:Adding map markers for a whole layer and Adding map markers separately.
Adding map markers to a layer
1. To add custom map markers for a whole layer, go to the EDIT STYLING option.

2. Pick the simple styling option and choose the ICON option from the dropdown with fill options.

3. Now click the CHOOSE ICON button.

4. Here you can pick some of our predefined map markers (simple icons, pin icons or maki icons), but it is also possible to add your own custom map marker (e.g. png, jpg, svg) to your map.

Want to change the color or your icon?
That depends on the file type you are uploading. Our predefined icons and SVG files can be changed into another color. A PNG and JPG file can’t be changed.
5. If you want to add your own custom map marker to your map, click the tab that says YOUR ICONS. Here you can upload an image file (e.g. png, jpg, svg).

6. Choose a file from your computer.

7. Select your new map marker and confirm your choice. If you already have a map marker, click the NO ICON button to delete this.

8. After confirming your choice, you can choose the fill opacity and the marker size. In this example I set the marker size to 60. Otherwise the marker is too small to see. Press APPLY to change your marker.

9. You have successfully added your custom map markers.

Keep in mind!
The marker size is locked. That means that the marker won’t change size when you zoom into the map.
Adding map markers for a separate feature
1. To add custom map markers for a separate feature, click the map feature you want to edit and press the EDIT STYLING button in the infowindow.

2. Now an editing menu will pop up on the left side. Choose the ICON option from the drop down menu that belongs FILL.

3. Now click the CHOOSE ICON button.

4. Here you can pick some of our predefined map markers (simple icons, pin icons or maki icons), but it is also possible to add your own custom map marker (e.g. png, jpg, svg) to your map.

5. If you want to add your own custom map marker to your map, click the tab with YOUR ICONS. In here you can upload an image file (e.g. png, jpg, svg).

Custom patterns
Customize your maps by editing your polygon fills with a specific pattern or image. This feature allows you to create maps with different polygon fills, but you can also create beautiful image maps with polygons that are filled with an image. Like this we made our Flags of the World map.
