Map Geodata

Looking for a way to import and visualize location data in formats like KML, Shapefile, or GeoJSON on a dashboard? Or do you have an Excel file with latitude and longitude values? Spotzi enables you to map your location data with just a few clicks and construct dashboards for immediate analysis of your location data.

Before you get started

The quality of your geodata import all depends on the quality of your data. So before you want to importing your geodata, please use the following tips:

• Data format: When importing an Excel or CSV file, ensure your file has separate columns for latitude and longitude, and that the data is correctly formatted. These columns are usually labeled as "Latitude" and "Longitude."
• Check your data: Check for any missing or erroneous latitude and longitude values. Remove or correct any invalid or incomplete entries.
• File size: Be mindful of the file size. This is limited to 256MB.
• Incomplete shapefiles: A shapefile is always a zipped and compressed combination of multiple file types. Make sure your shapefile always contains at least the following files: .shp, .shx and .dbf.
• Check your zipped shapefile: Please check your shapefile before importing. In some cases there can be text files or Excel files (e.g. readme files or license information) in the ZIP file. Or it is possible that there are multiple shapefiles in the ZIP. In this case, the dashboard can't be created immediately.
• Coordinate system: Spotzi standardly uses the WGS84 coordinate system. Ensure your geodata is in the appropriate coordinate system.

Import geodata

1. Go to your home screen and open the MAP GEODATA option to start.

2. Select the option FROM A FILE and click NEXT STEP.

3. Name your map and select the file you want to upload. Press IMPORT to start uploading.

4. Your data is now being uploaded to your account; the time for completion depends on the size of your file. After your data has been uploaded successfully, click OPEN DASHBOARD to start styling your visualization and setting up your dashboard.

Map Styling Options

Map styling is an essential part of customizing your geomarketing dashboards. A well-selected range of colors makes a big difference in how a viewer might interpret the data you’re presenting.
